Still Life

Wilderness is portrayed in an artificial interior or as a representative of a species. The model becomes an optical illusion, for it is not presenting reality, but rather an image of reality: our notion of what makes a rabbit a rabbit. I am fascinated by the haunting gaze of its glass eyes and the paltry boldness of its expression, as well as the paradox of exhibiting wild animals in display cases.
